NEEDLE FELT AN OWL FIGURE WORKSHOP

Learn to needle felt by creating a cute owl figure. Choose what colours you want to use and what style to make the face!

Instructor Cathy Disbrow will teach you how to needle felt the basic owl shapes and then show you different felting techniques for detailing.

Students will receive some basic wool colours and can choose from other colours to decorate their owl. The owl figure sits approximately three inches tall and makes a great ornament.

Some of the wool you’ll use is from the Village’s own flock of Border Leicester sheep. Before and after the workshop, you will be able to meet the sheep in their field enclosure.

Materials are included in the price. This includes two felting needles and wool. Foam felting pads are provided for students to use during the workshop and can be purchased separately.

Your workshop ticket includes free admission to explore the Village.

Get into the holiday spirit by learning the art of needle felting. Learn the magic of turning wool fluff into a solid Santa figure using a special needle.

Students will learn how to create Santa’s body, add facial features, and how to properly attach his curly beard. The Santa ornament stands approximately four inches tall.

Some of the wool you’ll use is from the Village’s own flock of Border Leicester sheep. Before and after the workshop, you will be able to meet the sheep in their field enclosure.

Materials are included in the price. This includes two felting needles, wool, and curly wool locks. Foam felting pads are provided for students to use during the workshop and can be purchased separately.

COLD PROCESS SOAP MAKING WORKSHOP

Cost: $90.00

Join Catherine Chambers from Let’s Make It at Black Creek Pioneer Village and learn about the history of soap making.

You will learn how to combine natural ingredients to make your own natural soap. You will also add your own custom blended fragrance, and select from a range of natural additives, such as clays and exfoliants.

You will leave the session with one pound of natural soap, and a recipe for making soap at home.

Join Catherine Chambers from Let’s Make It at Black Creek Pioneer Village and learn about the history of candle making.

During this workshop, you will learn about a variety of waxes that are used for candle making and wax accessories. You will learn how candle making has evolved over the past four centuries while making your own candles and accessories made from wax.

This workshop will provide you with opportunities to customize your creations as you choose scents and add finishing touches, such as dried flowers.

You will leave the session with:

• Two custom wax seals that can be used to decorate candle vessels or gifts
• Two decorative wax melts
